Holiday, Anyone?                                                                           3/18/06

Yesterday was Saint Patrick's Day. I think. I didn't do anything. I'm not Irish, or Irish-American. Not by any stretch. But until a few years ago I'd jump right into everyone's favorite amateur night. (Or is that Halloween?) Come to think of it, maybe what I've done is I just moved it over to Halloween. Halloween is pretty great.

I still like drinking Guinness, and I still like getting drunk in the daytime (and outdoors). I still like to listen to the Pogues, et. al. But why should it have to happen on a prescribed date, and with so many other idiots? Who says I can't sit in my apartment with some Boddingtons and a beef wellington, some Morrisey, maybe a little BBC. Problem? I'll be right here, with my candlestick AND revolver.
